Captain Cook discovered the east coast of Australia. His parents’ cottage was sent here and reassembled in these gardens. (AAT Kings passengers receive half price entry to Captain Cook’s Cottage!). See Parliament House, Windsor Hotel, Queen Victoria Market, the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), Rod Laver Arena, Flinders Street Station, Young & Jackson’s Hotel and St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Stop for morning tea in the Botanic Gardens Café (own expense) and see the famous Shrine of Remembrance. Travel past the Grand Prix race track, the Westgate Bridge and over the Bolte Bridge for great views of Melbourne. View Port Phillip Bay, the Yarra River and Victorian Arts Centre and see the Melbourne Aquarium. See the Riverboats on the Yarra, a cruise is highly recommended (K1C). Tour concludes at Federation Square.

Heading south down famous St. Kilda Road see the Arts Centre, Shrine of Remembrance then drive along part of the Melbourne Grand Prix Circuit around Albert Park Lake. See bay side cosmopolitan Fitzroy Street and the Esplanade. Then it’s down to the beach past Luna Park to see the action along the St. Kilda foreshore. Travel on Beach Road to see some of Melbourne’s best bay side beaches and homes as you head to Port Melbourne and the exclusive suburb of Beacon Cove. Then it’s over the Westgate Bridge towards Williamstown for afternoon tea (own expense). Return to the city on a relaxing one hour cruise along the Yarra River. See Melbourne’s Docklands, wharfs, casino, aquarium and sensational city views from a different perspective (K7C). Or take the coach back over the Westgate Bridge for panoramic views of Melbourne city, over the Bolte Bridge to Docklands, past the Victoria Market and the Melbourne Museum. Then past magnificent St Patrick’s Cathedral, the Windsor Hotel and the Paris end of Collins Street, back to the Day Tours Centre (K7).
