Follow the Great Ocean Road as you travel out of Melbourne visiting the many icons along the way, head to the Grampians National Park before reaching Adelaide. From Adelaide head to Kangaroo Island to set foot on the island with an abundance of wildlife and get up close with the resident sea lions.

| TOUR CODE: MAKI HIGHLIGHTS :: GREAT OCEAN ROAD :: SEAL BAY :: GRAMPIANS NATIONAL PARK :: REMARKABLE ROCKS ITINERARY DAY 1 :: MELBOURNE VIA GREAT OCEAN RD TO PRINCETOWN We pass Geelong and arrive in Torquay, with a stop to shop at Quiksilver and Rip Curl before we continue to world famous Bells Beach. Our Great Ocean Road journey begins here as we wind our way along one of the most spectacular coastal roads in Australia. We stop to see some koalas before passing through the seaside town of Lorne on our way to Apollo Bay. Next we hit the cool temperate rainforest of the Otway National Park, where we spend time at the Otway Fly tree top walk (included) then watch the sun set over the Twelve Apostles.(D) DAY 2 :: PRINCETOWN TO GRAMPIANS NP We walk down the Gibson Steps on to the beach for a different view of the Twelve Apostles, or there’s time for a helicopter ride (at own expense). Next up is Loch Ard Gorge, London Bridge, the Bay of Martyrs and Bay of Islands. Watch for whales (seasonal) as we pass through Warrnambool, then head inland to the Grampians National Park. Hikes include The Pinnacle, The Balconies and Reeds Lookout. You’ll sleep well tonight at our private accommodation. (BD) DAY 3 :: HALLS GAP TO ADELAIDE Get your legs working this morning with hikes at Hollow Mountain and the amazing MacKenzie Falls before we farewell The Grampians and travel via Horsham into South Australia. See rare White Western Grey Kangaroos at Bordertown, then cross the Murray River before arriving into Adelaide. (B) DAY 4 :: ADELAIDE TO KANGAROO ISLAND We make our way out of Adelaide through the pretty hills of the Fleurieu Peninsula. When we arrive at Cape Jervis, |
we jump aboard the Sealink ferry across Backstairs Passage (45 minute trip) to Penneshaw, where we meet your local island guide. It’s not far to our first stop at Pennington Bay; one of the Island’s stunning surf beaches. Get amongst sea lions in their natural habitat on our guided walk at Seal Bay – an experience you won’t forget! Scramble up the white sand hills at Little Sahara and get up close to more wildlife (including koalas) at the Hanson Bay Koala Sanctuary. We arrive at our farm-stay accommodation late in the afternoon. After dinner, get ready to spot kangaroos, wallabies and possums on a guided nocturnal walk. (LD) DAY 5 :: KANGAROO ISLAND TO ADELAIDE We spend the morning in Flinders Chase National Park. Clamber on the huge granite outcrops of Remarkable Rocks, sculpted by nature over hundreds of years. A colony of New Zealand fur seals resides at Admirals Arch on Cape du Couedic, watch while they frolic in the ocean or lap up the sunshine! We’ll have lunch at Rocky River Headquarters, where there’s time to check out the Information Centre; start point for the Snake Lagoon and Platypus Walks (seasonal choice). After lunch, we travel through the central farming region to the North Coast, visiting Stokes Bay, where a rock runnel leads to an idyllic beach (seasonal). We then return to Penneshaw, with time to purchase dinner (own expense) before returning to the mainland and Adelaide.
