In winter, Mount Hotham offers a huge range of snow activities, amazing gourmet foods and wines and traditional quaint accommodation, making sure that visitors won't ever want to leave. Some of the main activities amongst the area include skiing and snowboarding, catering to every level of ability. No matter whether you’re well experienced or just starting out, Mount Hotham is a great base for exploring.
Snow isn't scarce at Mount Hotham and sometimes, it’s has a higher natural snowfall than other Victorian ski resorts and with its extensive high tech snowmaking system, you’ll be sure that the season will run longer.
In the summer, Mount Hotham also offers a great variety of activities including bushwalking, mountain bike riding, horse riding and fly fishing. The Great Alpine Road passes through Mount Hotham and a tour by car is a great way to experience the varied and beautiful scenery in this part of Victoria.
Winter dates start in June and run right through till October, allowing visitors plenty of time to explore the area. Elevation at Mount Hotham reaches 1861 meters and offers fantastic terrain for beginners, intermediate and advanced skiers. With 13 lifts and a ski area of 320 hectares, Mount Hotham has a vertical drop of 395 meters for those extreme visitors. The average natural snow depth is an average of 150cm and average snowfalls are 300cm.
Mount Hotham also has its own airport, only a short drive from the mountain, making it a sure destination with little hassle of getting to. There are plenty of restaurants and eateries, around 17 in the area to be exact. And of course, plenty of local produce and wines on offer to remind you of the beautiful area you are in. There are cross-country trails, snowboard terrains and half pipes, so you know there is something for everyone.
Accommodation at Mount Hotham is of course, some of the best Victoria has to offer making sure it’s guests are comfortable whether it be warm summer nights or frosty winter days, Mount Hotham will surely offer a great place to rest your head. Visitors to the area can sit back and relax by a fire place with a hot cuppa or join the skiers on the mountain for some down hill action. There is plenty to see and do at Mount Hotham. You may never want to leave.
