Victoria Skiing

Victoria has some of the best skiing in Australia. This is be one of the things that every skier should experience. In Victoria you will find some of the best ski and snow conditions to rival anything you may have experienced in other regions in the world. The Snowy Mountains in Australia’s south provides fantastic terrain to challenge the beginner or the experienced skier. The snow season begins in June and lasts through till October. There is also a huge number of tours and other points of interest in the region to make your holiday complete.

The main ski resorts are located at Mt Hotham, Mt Buller, Falls Creek and Mt Buffalo. Mount Hotham is located 4½ hours drive from Melbourne. Mount Hotham village is unique in that it sits on top of the mountain, providing the most magnificent alpine accommodation scenery in the country. Mount Buller is the most accessible major snow resort in Australia. It is an easy 3 hour drive from Melbourne. No other major ski resort in Australia iscloser to an International airport. Falls Creek is located in the heart of the Victorian high country. It is less than 2 hours drive from Albury and 4½ hours drive from Melbourne. Besides being Victoria's largest mountain, the resorts location means that Falls Creek enjoys the best snowfalls of all Victorian resorts. These resorts all offer on snow accommodation and boast a plethora of restaurants and cafes. The après ski experience is second to none.

Victoria's snow resorts can be accessed in a number of ways. Melbourne has an international airport and is the closest to the resorts. Domestic flights operate to Albury and Mt Hotham. You can drive to all resorts on sealed highways. Rental vehicles are available from all airports. It is also possible to fly to Mt Hotham in smaller commercial aircraft and charter flights. Qantaslink have a service to the resort. There are also coach transfers available from many areas. Organized ski tours and packages are also available..
